South American Airways Road Feeder Services (RFS) provides the movement of air freight by truck between airports in the continental USA and Canada, a venture which is now becoming an almost daily occurrence. This is in part due to palletisation of air cargo on 'long haul' flights with 'wide bodied' aircraft. On arrival in the USA, most of the 'narrow bodied' local flights cannot accommodate the palletized cargo. To avoid 'breaking' the pallets, they are transferred by truck - usually under customs seal - to the airport of final destination.
South American Airways utilizes, in this regard, a network of sophisticated and GPS equipped freight carriers, with very attractive transit times. Depending on the final destination(s), transit times vary from overnight to 3 to 4 days, the latest one from coast to coast. This program is offered by South American Airways from three US gateways, JFK/EWR, MIA and LAX. For rates and services please click the gateway of your choice.
